Currently a work in progress This multi posters blog is created for people who are interested in lightsaber choreography as created by the NYJedi, but live out side of large cities. This exists as a hub so people can communicate ideas, resources, and their own experiences.

character photos

Here is an attempt to try for what myself as a jedi might be. I tried 2 jackets from a group called "what price glory" that does militaria reproductions and my attempt at making a jedi robe.

The militaria one works, the only problem is I also wear the battle dress jacket for everyday. The robe I throw away, the alterations for my size didn't work. I'll try again, the next goal is a tabard. If I make that work I can get other things under it.

These are taken just to see how things would look. I violated rule number 5 what with blurry images and closed eyes.

taking photos

For a time, my husband was a professional photographer.

If you take pictures of yourself in jedi outfit, here are some suggestions.

1. Use the best quality camera you can find.
2. Light is your friend, open windows to let light in. Use natural light if all possible. Open the window in the room next door if _any_ light can be added.
3. Be careful of backgrounds, hang a neutral color sheet behind you. Do not have white or black as the background. Light blue or green is good.
4. Forget the flash in the digital. It just makes you close your eyes, washes out the colors and with modern digital editing you and just pixelate to make things brighter.
5. Take lots of pictures then edit.

Two tricks if you are older and developing a double chin (or triple in my case). "turtle" stick your head forward a little bit to remove the jowl. Second is to get light there. Since most of the light comes from above, that makes a shadow. Pros use "soft boxes" which is light boxes shining under things. Use a light or mirror or a simple piece of poster board to under light the chin.

Introduction

Name I have several ID's on the internet. I'm hobbitt or hobbittc or the like, I'm Gallowglas on the NYJedi forum and the FX Sabers forum. I'm Ms Widget in my secret identity as a public school teacher.

Generally they are different parts of my personality.
For here I am your humble administrator or Gallowglas.

Why am I an Orphan Jedi? I live in an isolated small town. There are a few people who might be interested, but not enough to have a core. I was always interested in Star Wars. I saw the first one in the theater, yes I'm that old.
When I first say the New York Jedi on the Youtube, I watched. My husband pointed out that we were going to New York and we could attend the class.

What do I want to get out of this group?
Talking with like minded people. A structure with what I can practice with.

What can I offer the group? Hey I started it!
Also I do know many things.
